The 2010 wheat harvest totals 3,760,550 tonnes, the Agriculture and Food Ministry said referring to data of the National Grain and Animal Feed Service (NGAFS).

At September 3, the export of wheat of the new harvest amounted to 214,396 tonnes; exports between August 27 and September 3 came up to 23,467 tonnes.

By the same date, September 3, the import of wheat of the new harvest was 3,041 tonnes. No wheat was imported in the week between August 27 and September 3.

New harvest barley totals 767,215 tonnes. The barley exported by September 3 was 151,294 tonnes, including 4,570 tonnes exported in the week between August 27 and September 3. No barley imports are reported. The exports of quantity of barley of previous harvests and of the new one new harvest total 400,000 tonnes, according to NGAFS data. The barley sold abroad in the like period of 2009 was 304,000 tonnes.

The maize produced in 2009 totalled 1,290,833 tonnes. At September 3, the exports of maize of the 2009 harvest came up to 87,815 tonnes. There were no exports between August 27 and September 3. At September 3, imported maize of the 2009 harvest totaled 58,533 tonnes.

The amount of black oil-bearing sunflower produced last year was 1,317,979 tonnes; exports by September 3, 2009 amounted to accounted for 358,175 tonnes; there were no exports of sunflower between August 27 and September 3.

Flour exports at September 3 totalled 661 tonnes; there were no exports between August 27 and September 3. No flour was imported by September 3.

In the last week, bread wheat of the new harvest traded at 250 - 350 leva/t before VAT. The average purchase price of bread wheat on the domestic market is 306 leva/t before VAT, a little bit lower compared with last week, NGAFS experts said.

Animal feed transactions are concluded at 280 - 300 leva/t or maximum 310 - 320 leva/t before VAT. The average price is 282 leva/t before VAT, slightly higher compared with last week.

The purchase price of animal feed barley of the new harvest varies between 260 and 280 leva/t before VAT; and of brewing barley between 200 and 230 leva/t before VAT. Barley is in great demand for export all round the country, NGAFS experts said. Its purchase price has gone up this week, averaging 263 leva/t before VAT.

The harvest of black oil-bearing sunflower has begin, the NGAFS said. New harvest sunflower asked 550 - 560 leva/t last week, its purchase price averages 558 leva/t this week.

There is some maize in stock in this country that is why the market is sluggish, waiting for the new harvest of maize, the NGAFS said.

Flour prices kept going up in the period between August 27 and September 3, by an average of 2 leva per tonne, NGAFS data show. As at September 3, the average wholesale prices were as follows: 634 leva/t for grade 500 flour; 592 leva/t for grade 700 flour; and 543 leva/t for grade 1 150 flour.
