Corruption remains Bulgaria's big problem, according to US economist Prof. Steve Hanke cited by the Bulgarian National Radio.
This is the only sphere, in which my advice was not followed, he added.
He went on to say that his recommendations for flat tax, fiscal control and deregulation of economy were fulfilled. So, corruption and crime remain the Achilles' heel of this country.
Fears that the international banks will reduce or halt crediting through their Bulgarian branches are unsound, Hanke said referring to the new agreement, signed in support of the foreign banks by the international financial institutions.
