The average daily turnover of the Bulgarian Stock Exchange (BSE) amounted to 4.16 mln leva in January, the monthly bulletin of the bourse shows. An average of 838 deals were sealed daily on BSE in January, while the volume amounted to 2.318 mln shares.

A total of 16,759 transactions were completed in January to a total value of 83.21 mln leva. This is the lowest figure in nearly 4 years, a check-up by Profit.bg shows.

This is the lowest monthly turnover since April 2005 when securities for 79.91 mln leva changed hands on BSE. The monthly value of the deals sealed on BSE was last below 100 mln leva in November 2005.

A total of 8,608 deals were sealed in stocks included in the calculation of the SOFIX blue-chip index, or 54% of the total. Four in every five transactions in the period were in BG40 stocks.

The most active investment intermediaries on BSE last month were Central Cooperative Bank and Real Finance with 30.7 mln leva and 23.06 mln leva turnover, respectively. The two companies accounted for 44.04% of the turnover in the period.

First Financial Brokerage House ranked third with 8.12 mln leva turnover, followed by UniCredit Bulbank and Karoll with 7.98 mln leva and 6.14 mln leva, respectively.
