The Customs Agency posted 8,314,189,976 Bulgarian leva revenue from VAT, customs and excise duties and fines in 2008, a 104.2 per cent implementation or 331 million leva over the annual plan, the Agency said Thursday.

Cash proceeds from value-added tax (VAT) on 2008 imports were 4,032,570,037 leva, or 101,1 per cent implementation of the annual plan. The VAT proceeds rose 15 per cent compared to 2007.

Cash proceeds from excise duties stood at 4,051,629,824 leva for 2008, or 106.7 per cent implementation of the annual plan. Revenues from excise duty on imports stood at 31,693,468 leva, and from excise duties from deals in the country and intra community acquisitions were 4,019,936,356 leva. The total sum of excise duties increased 22 per cent year-on-year.

Cash proceeds from duties for 2008 were 220,960,859 leva or 113 per cent implementation of the annual plan. Of them, 165,720,644 leva are intended for the budget of the European community, the agency said. Duties proceeds went up 14.5 per cent compared to 2007.

Revenue from fines stood at 6,617,166 leva for 2007, up 1,283 million or 18.3 per cent increase compared to 2007.
