Prime Minister Sergei Stanishev and Economy and Energy Peter Dimitrov took part in a roundtable discussion in Varna dedicated of the opportunities offered by industrial zones.
Stanishev said that given the current crisis, additional measures should be sought to attract foreign capital. In his view, the establishment of an Industrial Zones National Company (IZNC) is a step forward in this respect. Besides political stability and a good tax policy, investors are looking for good infrastructure, too, the prime minister said.
The IZNC has been working for the development of seven industrial zones in Bulgaria - at Vidin, Rousse, Svilengrad, Karlovo, Pleven, Plovdiv and Varna, Stanishev said.
Unlike its political opponents, the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) believes that under the conditions of a crisis the state should continue to make investments. The capitalization of enterprises like the IZNC and the implementation of infrastructure projects is a way of pulling this country out of the crisis, he observed.
The Varna West Industrial Zone was registered officially on Friday, Economy and Energy Minister Dimitrov said. It will spread over an area exceeding 54 hectares. Big investors from China, Austria and Tawain have been already showing interest towards it.
