The decline of the Bulgarian Stock Exchange (BSE) reached is lowest point today, having started with a correction in November 2007. The SOFIX blue-chip index slipped by 3.62% to 1,230.37 points to hit a new 10-month low. The broader BG40 index plunged by 3.93% to an 8-month low 347.95 points.

The other two indexes registered considerably smaller losses compared to the SOFIX and the BG40. The BGREIT index of real estate investment trusts lost 1.48% of its value dipping to 96.06 points. The BGTR30 index of best performers in total return shed 2.86% of its value closing at 800.8 points.

The decline of the indexes was accompanied by a relatively high turnover. Deals for 11.21 mln. leva were sealed on BSE today, while the number of traded stocks stood at 149. A total of 27 of the companies registered an increase in their stock prices. The value of the block and other registered trades totaled 1.69 mln. leva.

Тhe number of decliners in the SOFIX and the BG40 indexes stood at 18 and 36, respectively. The number of stocks in BGREIT and BGTR30 that ended the day with losses stood at 6 and 28, respectively.

Central Cooperative Bank's stock depreciated by 5.78% to an average of 5.7 lеva per share today. Chimiport's stock price dropped by 7.05% to an average of 8.97 leva per share.

The other three banks within the index also closed on negative territory. The declines registered today are as follows: Bulgarian American Credit Bank (-1.07%, to 70.04 leva), Corporate Commercial Bank (-3.42% to 83.53 leva), First Investment Bank (-5.87% to 7.82 leva).

Lead & Zinc Complex plunged by 6.53% to an average of 61.28 leva per share, while Sopaharma's stock plummeted by 7.63% to an average of 6.17 leva per share. Sopharma announced yesterday that it was given green light by Serbia's anti-monopoly watchdog to acquire a Serbian company.

Monbat's stock depreciated by 2.67% to 25.47 leva per share. The starter battery maker plans to invest 64.2 mln. leva to expand output , according to the 2008-2009 investment program of the company released yesterday.

Albena shed 4.04% of its value, closing at an average of 88.4 leva per share today.

Sparky Eltos was SOFIX's only gainer on th day. The stock of the company appreciated by 1.79% to an average of 11.4 leva per share.

Most deals were sealed in Chimimport's stock today (297). Eurohold Bulgaria ranked second with 160 transactions. The stock of the company depreciated by 3.5% to an average of 5.23 leva per share.

A total of 132 deals in Enemona's stock were sealed today. The stock price of the company slipped by 2.47% to an average of 17.38 leva per share.

The number deals of struck in Holding Roads' stock topped 100 (-2.96% to 1119.49 leva). Bilboard closed 3.72% down at an average of 8.53 leva per share, while Zarneni Hrani shed 6.11% of its value, ending the session at an average of 2.15 leva per share.
