Retail Trade in Bulgaria Shrinks 0.3% in August

Seasonally adjusted early estimates of the National Statistical Institute show that August 2010 sales in Bulgaria's retail trade (exclusive of trade in cars and motorcycles) were 0.3 per cent below the July 2010 level.
Against August 2009, the fall was 4.3 per cent.
In August 2010 against July 2010, retail trade sales grew in the sectors of pharmaceuticals and medicinal goods (0.3 per cent) and automobile fuels (0.1 per cent). A fall was registered for foodstuffs, drinks and tobacco products (1.0 per cent), and textiles, apparel and footwear (2.0 per cent).
In August 2010 against August 2009, retail trade sales dropped in all sectors. The drop ranged from 0.6 per cent for foodstuffs, drinks and tobacco products to 9.6 per cent for computers and communication equipment.
