The airports in Varna and Bourgas handled a total of 32,100 flights and 3.4 mln passengers in 2008.

Bourgas airport handled a total of 16 949 flights last year, which represents a 5.18-percent year-on-year increase, which may be put down to the expansion of the general aviation.

The number of flights handled by Varna airport rose by 1.06%, to 15,129 in 2008. At the same time both airports posted a decline in passenger traffic.

Bourgas airport handled a total of 1.937 mln. passengers last year, down by 0.63%, compared to 2007.

The number of passengers handled at the Varna airport in 2008, marked a 2.88-percent year-on-year drop, to 1.45 mln. passengers.

The number of passengers handled at the Varna airport has risen significantly this month, which may be put down to the strong interest in domestic flights.
